Our Approach
Map. Restore. Build. The AvaOne Approach to Physician-Led Wellness in Edison, NJ.
Three pillars. One integrated model. A new approach to preventive cardiology, pain therapy, and lifestyle medicine, built for adults serious about their future self.
The Problem AvaOne Was Built to Solve
Conventional medicine treats the body as a collection of unrelated specialties. A cardiologist treats your heart. An internist manages your cholesterol. A physical therapist handles your back pain. A nutritionist looks at your diet. A wellness coach reviews your sleep. Five providers. Five separate plans. None of them talking to each other.
This fragmentation is the single biggest failure in modern preventive care. Cardiovascular disease, metabolic decline, chronic pain, and unhealthy aging do not respect the boundaries between medical specialties. They are connected. A patient with rising blood pressure is also likely dealing with poor sleep, elevated stress, weight gain, and chronic inflammation. Treating any one of these in isolation misses the bigger picture.
AvaOne was built to solve this. Three physicians. Three specialties. One Edison, NJ practice. One integrated approach. Every AvaOne patient receives a single, coordinated plan that addresses cardiovascular risk, physical recovery, and lifestyle change as connected parts of the same system, not as separate problems handed off to separate providers.
The Framework
Map. Restore. Build. Our Three-Pillar Framework.
Every AvaOne care plan is built around three pillars that work together. Each pillar addresses a different layer of long-term health. Together, they form one integrated approach to your future self.
1. Map the Risk: Preventive Cardiology and Advanced Risk Assessment
The first pillar is mapping your real cardiovascular and metabolic risk before it becomes a diagnosis. Conventional cardiology is reactive. A patient develops chest pain, has an abnormal stress test, or experiences a cardiac event, and treatment follows. Preventive cardiology starts a decade earlier. Using advanced lipid panels, ApoB, Lp(a), inflammation markers, family history evaluation, and a comprehensive cardiovascular risk assessment, AvaOne identifies the risks while there is still time to change the trajectory.
This pillar is led by Dr. Chirag D. Patel, MD, FACC, FSCAI, RPVI, a board-certified interventional cardiologist recognized as a Top Interventional Cardiologist from 2022 through 2025. He brings the diagnostic depth of an interventional cardiologist to preventive care, including imaging coordination when clinically appropriate.
For adults of South Asian heritage, the mapping process is calibrated to a different risk profile. South Asian adults face significantly higher rates of premature coronary heart disease compared with the broader US population, even after controlling for traditional risk factors. AvaOne’s protocols for South Asian heart health include advanced lipid sub-fraction testing and family history evaluation specifically designed for the Indian community in Edison and Central New Jersey.
2. Restore the Body: Physician-Supervised Non-Invasive Therapies
The second pillar addresses what is already causing pain or limiting recovery. Chronic back pain, joint pain, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and slow-healing soft tissue injuries are common in adults over 35 and become barriers to the active lifestyle that supports long-term health. Most pain clinics treat these symptoms with medication, injection, or surgical referral. Most chiropractic and physical therapy practices manage them with manual treatment.
AvaOne offers a different option. Drug free pain relief in Edison, NJ through StemWave Therapy, a non-invasive acoustic wave treatment cleared by the FDA for chronic musculoskeletal pain. Treatment is delivered under physician supervision, which is uncommon for shockwave and acoustic wave practices in Central New Jersey, most of which are chiropractor-led or physical-therapist-led. AvaOne patients are evaluated by a physician before treatment begins to ensure StemWave is the right approach for the underlying condition.
The Restore pillar is led by Dr. Vanisha Patel, MD, with physician oversight from Dr. Chirag Patel. Every StemWave patient begins with a $79 Discovery Assessment to determine appropriateness before committing to a treatment protocol.
3. Build the Lifestyle: Physician-Led Lifestyle Medicine and Wellness Coaching
The third pillar is the work that determines whether the first two hold. Identifying risk is meaningful only if it leads to change. Restoring the body is meaningful only if the underlying lifestyle that contributed to the pain is also addressed. The Build pillar is the structured, physician-led work of changing how you eat, sleep, move, and manage stress, with the depth of medical evaluation that generic wellness coaching cannot provide.
This pillar is anchored by the AvaOne Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching Program, a six-month physician-led metabolic wellness program led by Dr. Jaimy Patel, a Harvard-trained internal medicine physician and certified health and wellness coach. The program combines comprehensive medical evaluation, advanced lab work, and structured coaching across nutrition, weight, sleep, stress, and metabolic health. Most general health coaches lack the medical training to identify the underlying conditions driving lifestyle struggles. The AvaOne approach starts with that medical evaluation, then builds the lifestyle plan on top of it.
For patients enrolled in the Vitality Program, lifestyle coaching is bundled into the membership and delivered by Dr. Chirag Patel as part of integrated preventive cardiology care. The Coaching Program operates as a standalone offering for patients whose primary needs are lifestyle and metabolic rather than cardiovascular.
How the Three Pillars Work Together
The three pillars are designed to be combined when clinically appropriate. A patient with elevated cardiovascular risk and chronic back pain typically begins in the Vitality Program, with StemWave Therapy added as a treatment for the pain that is limiting their ability to exercise. A patient working through pre-diabetes and weight loss resistance typically begins in the Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching Program, with a referral to the Vitality Program at the end of the six months if their cardiovascular risk warrants ongoing membership care. A patient with persistent plantar fasciitis or tennis elbow typically begins with the StemWave Discovery Assessment, with optional follow-up engagement on lifestyle and cardiovascular risk if their broader health profile warrants it.
The Future Self Assessment is the entry point into the system. Every new patient receives a comprehensive ninety-minute physician evaluation that maps their goals, risk profile, and concerns across all three pillars. The physician then recommends which program or combination of programs best fits their situation. There is no obligation to enroll in any program on the day of the assessment.
What Makes the AvaOne Approach Different
There are concierge cardiologists, lifestyle medicine doctors, and StemWave practices across New Jersey. What makes the AvaOne approach different is the integration.
One Integrated Plan, Not Three Referrals
Most adults dealing with cardiovascular risk, chronic pain, and lifestyle challenges end up with three separate providers managing three separate plans. AvaOne is built so that one physician relationship can address all three.
Physician-Led at Every Layer
Most wellness coaching is delivered by certified coaches. Most shockwave therapy is delivered by chiropractors or physical therapists. Most preventive cardiology is delivered by single specialists. AvaOne brings board-certified physician supervision to every pillar.
Built for the Edison Community
Edison has one of the largest Indian-American populations in the United States and a demographic profile with documented elevated cardiovascular risk. AvaOne’s risk assessment protocols are designed with that community in mind, and our care plans accommodate diverse dietary traditions including vegetarian and South Asian eating patterns.
Why We Call It "Your Future Self"
The AvaOne Future Self Assessment is named deliberately. Most healthcare focuses on the immediate, the symptomatic, and the recent. AvaOne focuses on the long arc. The version of you at 50, 60, 70, and beyond, and the work being done now that determines what that version looks like.
This framework changes the questions we ask. Not “what is wrong with you today” but “what is your trajectory, and what are we doing now to change it.” Not “what treatment do you need” but “what plan supports the next thirty years of your life.” Every AvaOne patient receives a written care plan that is built around this longer horizon, with quarterly or biweekly check-ins to ensure the plan adapts as life and biology change.
Approach FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions About the AvaOne Approach
Physician-led preventive care is medical care designed to identify and address health risks before they become diagnoses, delivered by physicians with extended visit time and access to advanced testing. A typical insurance-covered physician visit lasts seven minutes and is driven by billing codes for existing diagnoses. The AvaOne approach is the opposite. New patient evaluations last ninety minutes, advanced cardiovascular and metabolic testing is ordered based on individual risk profile rather than insurance approval, and care plans address prevention rather than reaction. The model is structured for patients who want to understand and manage their long-term health trajectory rather than only respond to symptoms when they appear. It is not a replacement for primary care or emergency care.
A typical AvaOne patient begins with a Future Self Assessment, a ninety-minute physician evaluation that maps their cardiovascular and metabolic risk, identifies any musculoskeletal pain or recovery concerns, and reviews their lifestyle factors across nutrition, sleep, stress, and weight. Based on the assessment, the physician recommends one or a combination of three programs. Adults with elevated cardiovascular risk typically begin in the Vitality Program, the preventive cardiology membership. Adults working primarily on weight, metabolic, or lifestyle change typically begin in the Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching Program. Adults seeking treatment for specific chronic pain conditions typically begin with the StemWave Discovery Assessment. Many patients combine programs because their concerns span multiple pillars.
AvaOne is located in Edison, NJ, a community with one of the largest Indian-American populations in the United States. The clinical context matters. Adults of South Asian heritage face significantly higher rates of premature coronary heart disease compared with the broader US population, even after controlling for traditional cardiovascular risk factors like blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes. The elevated risk is documented in major cardiology literature including JACC and the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology. AvaOne’s preventive cardiology protocols include advanced lipid sub-fraction testing (ApoB, Lp(a)), family history evaluation, and cultural and dietary considerations specifically calibrated to South Asian and Indian-American patients. The Indian heart health doctor relationship is one of the practice’s primary clinical focus areas.
